    Annual BBQ Fundraiser

    Kure Beach Annual BBQ Fundraiser

    Saturday, August 19th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm

    Admission: $9

    The Annual BBQ Fundraiser at the Kure Beach Community Center features barbeque from Middle of the Island and live music with The Tide Travelers, which plays covers from The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. You get a plate of barbeque, beans, cole-slaw, potato salad, a roll, dessert, and drink.

    Solar Eclipse Party

    Monday, August 21st from 12:30 – 3:30 pm

    300 Airlie Road, Wilmington NC 28403

    Admission: $3 – $9

    Airlie Gardens and the Cape Fear Museum present a Solar Eclipse Party featuring a chance to view the first USA coast-to-coast visible solar eclipse in nearly 100 years, plus family-friendly games, educational activities and more. Safety eyewear provided.


    Wahine Classic Surfing Competition

    Saturday and Sunday, August 26th through 27th from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

    Access 39 South End, Wrightsville Beach NC 28480

    Admission: Free!

    The Wahine Classic returns and features all levels of female surfers, amateur to professional, beginner to experienced, and a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) division. Spectators will see up to 100 competitors ages 5 to 65. Wrightsville Beach Public Access 37 and 38 are the prime locations for spectator viewing and vendor browsing.

    Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017

    August 1st through 21st from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

    Admission: $7 – $10

    Learn about the upcoming historic event, the Great American Solar Eclipse 2017! This show is an exciting and educational event about this once in a lifetime phenomenon. While the Brunswick Islands will only experience 98.5% of the eclipse, a short ride to South Carolina offers 100% eclipse of the sun and two minute view of a starry night sky in mid-afternoon. Learn about the important precautions to take in order to safely view the eclipse, as even 1% of sunlight is too bright to look at directly. Ingram Planetarium is selling specially designed solar glasses to safely view the Sun for only $1.00



    Leland Under the Lights Car Show

    If you enjoy being with some of the hottest cars and trucks then come join the 14th annual Leland Under the Lights car show!  The event will have cars, entertainment, various restaurants to dine in and enjoy great music coming from Brian White with Jammin’ 99.9 on location.
