Moving Tips
Starting to Look for a home?
1) Not from around here?
We offer tours of the Greater Wilmington area so you can see up close all of the wonderful things Wilmington has to offer! We can also provide a wealth of information on cultural activities, child care facilities, transportation and virtually any resource that our area has to offer. 2) Do you need to sell your home before you move to Wilmington? We can refer you to a Cartus Network office in your area and arrange for a free comparative market analysis to help you understand the market trends in area.
3) Strictly renting? We have a rental division that will work with you to find the prorperty suited to your needs.
Once you have found your new home and the move is scheduled, try these tips...
1) Designate one drawer of a dresser for sheets and towels so that you won't have to rummage through boxes for these essentials the first night in your new home.
2) If using a moving service, make a note of your shipment registration number. Keep this number with you in case you need to call your mover with questions about your shipment.
3) If you need to store some of your goods, it is a good idea to tour the facilities of the storage company you are going to use looking for cleanliness, organization and security.
4) Take your current phone book with you. You may need to make calls to residents or businesses back in your former hometown.
5) Pack heavy items in small boxes, light items in larger boxes.
6) Before the moving truck leaves for your destination residence, give him a phone number where you can be reached. An alternate number is a good idea also.
