The Steps to Selling Your Home
- Establish a relationship with a listing agent
Your listing agent will guide you through the process of selling your home. They can help you determine the price, provide suggestions on how to get your home in its best condition, assist with the marketing, help find buyers, and guide you through the paperwork. - Determine the price
Pricing your home well from the very beginning is critical to selling your home. Your agent will provide you with information about the market and comparable sold properties so that you can make an educated decision on pricing your home. - Make your home available for viewing.
- Negotiate Offers
When a prospective buyer decides on your home, they will make an offer on your home outlining their price and terms. Your CENTURY 21 Sweyer & Associates agent will explain the terms of the contract to you. You have the option of either accept or countering that offer. You will then negotiate until you and the buyer agree on all of the terms. Your agent will guide you through this process and act as a liaison with the buyer. - Make the property available for Inspections
Once you accept a buyer’s offer, the buyer will likely set up a Home Inspection, Termite Inspection and any specialty inspections that they elect to do. - Settlement
Settlement describes the payment of the balance of the purchase price the buyer owes on the property, and the transfer of the title. It takes place on the possession date specified in the agreement.
