Ann Street Bicycle Boulevard opens in Wilmington NC
The City of Wilmington is constructing North Carolina’s first bicycle boulevard. This concept, which originated in Berkeley, California, is a strategy whereby bicycles are given priority over motor vehicles on an existing roadway corridor. The bicycle boulevard will involve internal policy changes, as well as infrastructure components, which will include curb extensions, alley resurfacing, high-visibility crosswalks, pavement markings, and signage.
The grand opening of the Bicycle Boulevard will be this weekend, and the public is invited!
