2010 Easter Seals UCP $10,000 Cash Raffle
We held our annual Easter Seals UCP of NC Fundraising Event with a $10,000 cash raffle the summer of 2010 and as a result, raised $40,130 for Easter Seals UCP. There are many adults and children with disabilities in our community who, without Easter Seals, would not receive the care and support they need. More than 90 percent of Easter Seals’ revenue supports services in the area where funds are raised. For more than 24 consecutive years, Easter Seals has ranked first among National Health Council members for the percentage (94 percent) of program dollars spent on direct client services. CENTURY 21® Sweyer & Associates supports Relay for Life
In April 2010, the CENTURY 21® team walked with Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. More than 400 cancer survivors walked in the survivor lap that kicked off the event, now in its 16th year. Iris Baker, outreach coordinator for New Hanover Health Network, said 172 teams with more than 2,300 participants walked during the event, and 250 children participated in the Kids Walk.
Coastal Classic Golf Tourney tees off in Wilmington
Celebrity golfers warmed up Friday for the 18th annual Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament. The event will run thru Saturday and all proceeds will go towards purchasing an Arctic Sun machine for the hospital.
"Part of what I like about the Coastal Classic is that it identifies a specific cause so you know what your money is going to support," said 2010 General Chairman Jeff Sweyer of Century 21 Sweyer and Associates.
The device can help save lives of cardiac arrest patients by quickly reducing body temperature, which reduces the risk of injury to the brain following a period of insufficient blood flow. It is a non-invasive procedure that allows most patients to return to normal activities.
"This technology is believed to have reduced the mortality rate among cardiac arrest patients by 35 percent," said Sweyer.
The Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament is organized by the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation, a nonprofit, fundraising affiliate of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
"The Coastal Classic is one of the most recognized golf tournaments in the area," said Sweyer. "We have a lot of people in the community who come back year after year because they know they can have a great time and it benefits a great cause.

Every year CENTURY 21 Sweyer & Associates holds a fundraising event in order to raise money for Easter Seals UCP of North Carolina. In order to truly understand the impact that our efforts have on Easter Seals UCP, we feel it's important to visit and interact with those we would like to contribute to. In June, we took a group of 15 CENTURY 21 Sweyer & Associates' agents and staff to the Childcare center on Military Cutoff Road here in Wilmington, NC. The childcare center's director was kind enough to take us on a tour of the facility and gave us an in-depth overview of what type of services the center provides for the children.. We had a great visit and hope to take more of our agents and staff on visits to the center in the near future.
